BENENDEN, or BENNENDEN, is a village and parish of the same name, seven miles south from Headcorn station, and four S.E. from Cranbrook. The population in 1851 was 1,608. The church, dedicated to St. George, is an ancient edifice. The living is a vicarage, in the gift of Thomas Law Hodges, Esq., and incumbency of the Rev. Daniel Boys, M.A. Here is also a dissenting meeting-house.
